First you apply to colleges and choose among the ones that accepted you. Good grades and extracurriculars look good on applications.

Once you’re accepted, take as many biology courses as possible as you declare your premed major (or neurobiology if it’s offered.) Again, you’ll need good grades and extracurriculars to polish up your application.

Med school will also accept you based on your experience in a clinical setting. Consider volunteering and internships, particularly in hospitals, research institutes, etc.

Last but not least, you’ll need your MCATs. Average score is about 11.

When you’re in med school, you could choose your field which is pediatrics and neurology but you could do that as late as your residency. And then you’re all set to go.

My brother has a seizure disorder so he regularly has to see his pediatric neurologist. A neurologist is a doctor who specializes in disorders of the nervous system. A pediatric neurologist specializes in children’s cases. You should talk to your guidance counselor about your options, but I think you would have to major in pre-med for your undergraduate degree and then medicine for your graduate degree.

After college you would then start a residency for pediatric neurology. Here’s more info:

Good Luck!

Work hard and get a good score on the SATS. When you get into a college, you can pick whatever courses you want to. It’s not like if you don’t have a 90 average you can’t take doctoral courses in college. Did you really think that?

You care for children with neurologic disease—many are chronic. Finding those who are treatable especially at the time of birth is the blessing. Many can benefit from surgery. Families can benefit from your wisdom and support. Neurobiology sounds like a good major. Good luck..

ok first off you say it and you dont know it but to be one of those you gotta work your a** off first at college to get good grades and then to study for the MCAT test to go into a goos med school. after 4 more years you choose your specialty which would be internal medicine and thats 4 more years in your internship and then 4 more to specialize in neurology and then prob. 2-4 more years to become more specialized in pediatric neurology. 18 years studying after high school!!.to sum it al up you’ll be studying and paying med school bills till your’re old and cant enjoy your youth.

i suggest you take another specialty or trade.

My daughter has to see a Pedi Nerologist yearly as a result of a brain injury. There are so many out there that are doing it for the money and many which have bad bedside manners. You’ll deal with many children that are profoundly handicapped and I hope that you give those families just as much respect as you give the families of “normal” children. I am posting you a link I hope you read it.

i hate going to the Nerologist. he sucks. i look stupid in front of him. i get confused with right and left and he tells me to walk to steps foward, 1 to the right, 4 steps backwords, and 3 to the left and 2 foward and i cant remember half of it for my life. and he never shuts up. and he determined wether i would stop growing or not. i’m stuck at 4″11 for the rest of my life and i’m only a freshman in highschool. i went off topic. i hate taking those stupid pills they make me feel dumb. and my friends get mad at me when i cant pay attention to them or i dont listen and everything i do is wrong. the last thing this world needs is more doctors.

A good first step would be learning correct grammar. “What ARE the duties…”
