If your parents are an alumni of a college, is it cheaper/easier to get in?
Favorite Answer
Usually doesn’t make it cheaper. I’ve never actually heard of a legacy scholarship, but there might be one out there.
It can make it easier to get in for private schools. If you’re borderline, it can help tip the scale in your favor. It’s not going to do that much though, but at really prestigious schools, you’ll need all the help you can get.
However, there are often some special scholarships you can apply for if you are the child of an alumnus. It depends highly on the college, you would have to check with the specific college.
If your parents have been making donations to the school over the years, you will find you will be offered finical aid.
That how it worked for my son 2 years ago.
