Be more specific about “civil cases and minor stuff”.

In general, if you have an area of law you’d like to practice, pick a major in that area.

If you have no idea, I like two majors for law school:

1) Psychology – good b/c it’s useful to have a good idea behind a person’s thought. Whether it’s a client, opponent, judge, whatever. It’s also an amazingly easy major so you should get high grades in it (altho law schools know this so they expect top grades).

2) English/Writing – all lawyers need to write. You research and you write. Excellent writers typically become excellent lawyers. The only negative is this is usually a pretty tough major to get good grades in. If you like it, don’t let it deter you though. Law school is tough so if you’re always shying away from a little work and competition, well, you shouldn’t be a lawyer in the first place.

Poly Sci and Philosophy are common choices. Personally, I think they’re horrible choices. I see little to no good reason why anyone would choose them. Unless they actually love those subjects. That’s ok then. Otherwise, the advantages they assume these majors have are also in Psychology, but psychology actually does have some small usefulness once in law school and beyond. These don’t.

I easily have a B.S. in nuclear engineering, at the instant engaged on my PhD. i think of the two majors are wonderful alternatives regarding profession opportunities and earnings, keep in mind that obtaining a petrol engineering degree won’t unavoidably assure you $20,000 greater, enormously in case you % graduate college. What extremely seems to be the difficulty is the place to circulate to college. My best piece of advice (from what i’ve got found out over the years) is to discover the compromise between following your interest and taking a threat. the two are powerful of their very own procedures, and the conventional public finally end up having to % between the two. i think of on your case, it extremely is trouble-free. you may take a threat (circulate to the wonderful engineering college interior the rustic and pursue a profession which you %) and stick on your interest (your lady chum) on the comparable time. circulate to MIT! With a level from MIT, your attractiveness will talk for itself while it is composed of corporation contacts. it extremely is to no longer say Texas A&M isn’t an wonderful college, i could circulate there in a heartbeat, yet your different precedence (your lady chum) isn’t there. i’m no longer suggesting you’re making a call completely in accordance with the place your lady chum is going, yet shall we face it, she will the international’s superb college, and MIT is barely some miles away. i’m confident you will prevail in despite you %. you would be so busy with engineering training in some years… this little quandary would be fairly memorable.

Majors aren’t relevant for law school. A lot of people will major in English, Political Science, or History. It doesn’t matter. You need to know how to write well-organized, well-reasoned, and concise responses in law school to different audiences.

Political Science. You’ll learn about the American Judicial Process, Constitutional Law, etc..

What you want to do to get into a good law school is be involved. So, get some good grades, do well on your LSAT, and have a lengthy resume. Get involved in groups, clubs, intramural sports, etc. – the admission committees want to know you have a life and are in school. They want you to be able to juggle the two – have a good balance between them.

You probably would pick some liberal arts major. Although I don’t think it really matters what you pick. It only matter that you get a good enough grade so you can get into a good law school. I have friends that went to undergrad for chemistry and went on to law school.

So it doesn’t matter!
