Yes, most likely you will be required to take English, math and history as these courses are normally general education courses. However, it depends on what the curriculum requirements are for an associates degree at the community college.

Keep in mind that in order to be an RN, you will be required to pass the NCLEX in your state in order to be licensed. You might consider continuing your education after your associates degree and work towards a BSN degree at a 4-year institution. You will most likely be able to obtain a higher paid nursing position with your BSN. BSN degrees often lead to more areas of specialization for RN’s.
