All you can do is be honest with and send them a transcript as soon as possible. I am way out of your region, but LSU won’t accept a student who has below a 2.0. They make them go to another school and get their grades up first. Other schools have different policies. If you have been out of school for 7 years you might be able to look into something called academic bankruptcy. It gives you a clean slate and lets you start over from scratch. Good luck and remember that you need to just accept the fact that you can get over what ever hurdles they put in front of you.

The first step is to go back to that community college and re-take (and pass) the classes you failed. The community college will acknowledge that you re-took the class and forgive the F you received the first time around. The first F will remain on your transcript but it will be forgiven and not affect your GPA.

Once you’ve completed this, apply to a four year school. Most four year schools will honor the forgiven F (but they are not required to!) at the community college and not take it into consideration.

This happened to me a few years back. I was able to enter the California State University system with four forgiven F’s at the community college level.

Don;t worry, a lot of students who are your age did the exact same thing., Most just fool around after high school, until one day in their 30s they realize that they should of listened to their teachers and parents. “I should of completed college and got my degree”

Research after research has shown that college degrees PAYS. Probably not in the present because the student loans you might amass but it pays in the future. College students, on average, almost make twice to three times, what their high school counterparts make.

If I were you, I would be the first to line up for registeration.

Good Luck!

I don’t know about CUNY, but I’m telling you friend, many many people do what you did, so the colleges are usually understanding. Explain to them that you made a mistake and you want to correct those mistakes. You’ll have to retake what you failed, but I believe in you and know you can do it. Make it right. Go for your goals and hold your head high. You are NOT alone in what you did. I believe in you and the magic of your dreams!

another thought – retake the classes you walked out on to get a real grade. You’d have to check with the advisors at the school, but that might “fix” your GPA.
