You have to be an adult and judge how much time you need to spend on your project or paper and don’t fall into the habit of saying “I work best under pressure.” People who wait to the last minute fail or at best they end up getting a “c”.
When taking notes in class, write down everything on the board. What instructors say might be on the test. If it’s important enough to write on the board, it most likely will be on the test. Always take good notes. Read the texts and highlight the important ideas you want to remember. Take notes from the book, too. On the night before the test read over your notes and the highlighted parts of your book, then go to bed and get a good night’s sleep.
When you get up, eat a good breakfast. When taking the test, give your brain some food and suck on a piece of hard candy (not sugar free). Never cram before a test. You can glance over your notes right before the test to keep the info fresh in your mind, but never cram. If you don’t know the information by this time, you never will, so don’t sweat what you don’t know.
And the most important thing to remember is that a test is not to see what you know… it’s a tool that the teacher uses to see how well he/she taught a certain point. If everyone does poorly on a certain question or group of questions then the instructor knows he/she did not do a very good job getting the message across.
Here is how it should work
> Study for 20 min
> work on game for 10 min
> Study for 20 min
> work on game for 10 min
> Study for 20 min
> work on game for 10 min
> Study for 20 min
> work on game for 10 min
> Study for 20 min
>keep going until the game is done.
an idea for a game is…..
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. (only without real money)
you make this game by writing out 15,30,45,60,75, or 90 questions and answers to the questions. they need to be in multiples of 15.( there are 15 levels.)
one person is the host and the other person is the answerer. the host gives questios to the answerer and if they get it right they advance to the next question. If they dont know the answer they can call in a life line. the life line would be their textbook or notes. they can do this on any question and its for 50 seconds. if they dont get it right then they lose. keep going until you get to the 15th level if you get it right you get a prize. keep doing this and studying can actually be fun!
go to the source below and play it yourself
as for having fun while studying…try having friends over for a study party a couple days before the test…play jeopardy with the test questions!
wuv
3:30pm: Math/Science study
4:30pm: English/Social studies Study
5:30pm: Dinner
6:30pm: Hang out at mall with friends
8:00pm: Review/double check all homework for the day
8:30pm: Watch TV
9:30pm/10:00pm: Go to bed
Kinda like that….if you have a tangible schedule in front of you and you work on it according to your own terms, you won’t seem so overwhelmed and you’ll still find time with your friends.
