Do not get panic. Nothing has changed except, you won’t be able to go to University straight.

Apply to community college. Community college gives you another opportunity to improve your grades. You don’t need SAT or other advance classes to get in. Make an appointment with college counselor and take courses that will help you transfer out to a University.

There is nothing wrong with going to community college. You will actually save money. Community college offers same courses as University for first two years. After two years, transfer out to a University of your choice.

Make sure you make an appointment with a counselor from a community college. He/she will give you list of courses to take for the first two years.

Also apply to financial Aid.

They may, but they will probably want more than just one year’s evidence of a change in attitude. Also, the low test scores tend to underscore the low grades, so you may not be able to do what you want when you want to do it. I’m actually surprised that they let you take honors classes at all if you had a 1.9 last year!

There are two possibilities (and of course, you can still apply to the schools you mention, but don’t get your heart too set on them). One is that you can go to a community college for two years and then transfer to a decent university. The other is that you can use the College Matchmaker feature on www.collegeboard.com to see which places may take you with your GPA.

You certainly have a chance of getting into the schools you’re looking at. Remember that colleges look at more than just your GPA. There are many excellent students out there with mediocre GPAs and mediocre students with excellent GPAs.

This said it never hurts to bring your grades up since given a well rounded application this can only stand to help your application.

Another thing to consider is the specific program you would like to major in and how your GPA reflects those areas.

Colleges will see that you improve your academic performance and they will look at that positively (that you turned over a new leaf and worked harder).

Another option if you can’t get into those colleges right after high school is to go to community college for 1 year, continue to work hard, and then transfer at the end of the year. Before doing this, you will want to find out college courses that will transfer.

Relax! I’m in college now. I sucked balls during 9th and 10th grade. I had a 2.3 GPA (though I was at a very rigorous and prestigious high school), but my grades were A’s and B’s during 11th and 12th grades. 11th grade is the most important because in 12th grade colleges only see your mid-year grades. Nonetheless I felt like you. Colleges definitely look at an upward trend. Looking at the schools you are applying to just get at least 1500 0r 1600 out of 2400 on your SAT’s and you will be all set with that GPA. Also judging by the schools you are applying to you are def from florida. North florida sucks as does florida international, but still apply to those as your safeties. south florida is okay if you plan on living in state, so that could be like your middle of the road school, and central florida is a cool and rising school and that could be your reach. Orlando would be fun to go to and with florida expanding by the year more universities will be needed. University of Central florida in about 20-25 years will be on par with university of florida, florida state, and u-miami in terms of competing for in-state talent. good luck and relax. go knights

If you can’t get in, go to a community college and get an associate degree. It will let you get a higher GPA, and you can go to a university as a Junior.

College and HS GPA’s are not averaged together, so you can start fresh.

Don’t worry about it! Universities do not care about grades! Tell them how much pot you smoked in high school and let them know that you are just like them. You want to have a good time…look sexy for the guys and have some college fun. That’s what every body does in college.

If you want my opinion, college is for loosers. i went on the free market and made some real money. I have two jobs and make all the money I want. I clean houses and I am a janitor at a great school. Everyone respects me…and Im probably the smartest woman at the school.

go to a junior college for two years then transfer to a university for the final two years and get a bachelors there.

Try an SAT training program there are tons around. You will do much much better on your SAT the second time around.
