In the US, medical schools require a degree from an accredited 4-year college or university. Prereqs include the following, with the first set being mandatory and the second set recommended at some schools and mandatory at others.

chemistry (1 year)

biology (1 year)

organic chemistry (1 year)

physics (1 year)

mathematics (such as college algebra + trigonometry — 1 year)

english composition (1 year)

biochemistry (1 year)

spanish (1 year)

statistics (1 semester)

calculus (1 semester)

genetics (1 semester)

Both your overall weighted grade point average as well as the gpa of just your science courses should be above a B, preferrably a high A. Additionally, most applicants take the MCAT sometime junior year. A score below 25 is considered poor, as most successful applicants score in the 30-40 range.

It’s not easy. They expect you to enjoy 100 hours of work a week over holiday weekends.

You ready to give up Christmas, Thanksgiving, Labor Day

You ready to cut into stale old cadavers

You ready to be yelled at when someone else is wrong
