Well as long as you meet the A-G requirements, obtain good letters of recommendation, get a good SAT score, and write a good essay for your college application you should be MORE than qualified. And you could still do summer school to replace that grade, I know applications are due before summer ’08 but you can write in progress and then submit your final transcripts after summer school is over, or you could take it at a community college (they go faster). It would be a GREAT idea to talk to your high school college counselor but go in there with specific questions and look with him/her at the colleges that would be best suited for you. Also don’t forget to apply for financial aid (FAFSA), EOP, and look at scholarships in Fastweb.com

hey I’m a first generation college bound student as well! I think the whole deal with cal state is GPA. the UC’s really emphasize volunteer work because they are harder to get into. So basically get the highest GPA you can and do well on your SAT. Oh and I’ve heard that freshman year doesn’t matter. It’s mainly sophomore and junior year. Good Luck!
