You can compose music — for anything from advertising to working with a local playwright. You could even play the piano in hotels, malls, on cruise ships .. I know, not so glamorous, but at least you’re doing something you love. And, of course, you can teach. You can teach more than piano — there’s music theory, high school band, etc.

If you want to shoot for the stars, you can hone your skills and attend a top music school, like Juilliard or Berklee College of Music (Boston). Then you can perform for famous orchestras and ensembles — even play piano at the Oscars! 🙂

I would recommend a double major (or at least a minor) in something you can fall back on.

A piano teacher at a college or university, although (depending on where you would work) may not be the best paying job, is a good solid career option. However, if you want to be a teacher, then you should also look into getting a degree in Music Education. On top of that, if you don’t already know how, you need to make sure that you are fairly competent at sight reading, and that, if you do get paid on the lower side of the scale, you are prepared to teach independent piano lessons during the summer months.

You can still do a double major and become a piano teacher – you would also have the advantage of being able to be a session musician for extra money if you wanted

Or you could be an accompianist for singers or other soloists for competitions, etc on the side of being a teacher

If you want to be a piano teacher for a school, you need to find a university that has education majors and piano majors. Talk to a counselor there, but I think you would want to major in education and minor in piano.

well,i think you should get another major course,your talent in music is already in yourself and that was your special skill…you can be a piano teacher even you are not teaching in school you can earned money more than the salary of a shool teacher out of your talent in playing the piano and by tuturial…so get another major course so that you have choices in your life aside from playing the piano..
