I am a poor college student in NC. Can anyone recommend how I can get Microsoft Office 2003 for my classes?

I couldn’t use my financial aid to buy it because my bookstore no longer carries it and I won’t have any money until the end of September. Please help if you can.

Try the Information Technolgy department. They sometimes are able to distribute the software for university work.

Well, i agree with the Open office option and Linux (read ubuntu) is a good alternate to Windows.

I studied at NC state and I dont think the school distributes MS office to students, though some microsoft products are distributed free of cost.

Another option to look at is a trial version of MS office from microsoft’s website. Well it will atleast get you started.

Other ways of using office products is working at school or public library nearby.

Another way, not recommended option (because these documents are opened using MS office, some of the formatting gets spoilt) is Google documents. You can build .doc files and .xls (excel) sheets online if you have a google account, which is free.

Hope this helps!

You can get around this for free by using Linux. Go to www.ubuntu.com, and you’ll get instructions for how to install linux on your computer. There’s a free set of packages called OpenOffice that can read in and write out MS Office files. If you have been told that you absolutely must use Office for some reason this won’t work, but if you just need to be able to read and write Excel and Word files, then it will be fine.
