how would you deal with reading textbooks?

I hate reading, especially history books. How do you deal with it, especially if you have to read it for class?

This may not get you an A in the class, but it works.

Make an outline of the writer’s work. that way you can concentrate on the important dates, people & places. Then study and review your outline. It helps get down to the most basic facts to remember.

I tried highlighting these things in the books but I found everything was bright yellow and I stilll didn’t know the facts.

History teachers want to know dates of events, countries involved, names of major players, outcome of conflict, how it affected more history. If you know that, it is a good start.

good luck

Make sure you’re comfy. I realized I prefer to sit at a table with my book elevated so my neck doesn’t get sore. Get a few different colors of highlighters and highlight the important points. Listen to your I pod while you read. Maybe you could only let yourself listen to a certain band when you’re reading for school. That will help keep you motivated. Also, try to discipline yourself by making a schedule where you only have to read a few pages, more often, so it doesn’t seem like a forever task if it’s broken up.
