My suspicion is that the opposite is true; you aren’t motivated because you are depressed. Often this is just due to chemical reactions in the brain; you can be deeply depressed even under the happiest of external circumstances. Get a psychiatrist to prescribe a mild antidepressant, and your problem will be solved.

By the way, I notice that a lot of other people mention exercise as a solution. The problem is that if you are depressed enough not to be motivated in other areas, you won’t likely be motivated to exercise either. Unless you have someone who can force you to do this, it won’t work, because it seems to take years for any positive effects to kick in (I’ve done it for over a year at a time, and it still doesn’t feel good!).

Sorry to hear about your situation. You are certainly not alone! I have two main suggestions: (1) exercise … even if just going for a walk. Take your mp3 player if you have one. I have a cheaper Zen player and it’s fine. Be sure to look up at the sky (inspirational) and be safe. (2) Go to church. Even if you’re a non-believer, religious teachings are motivational. Not all churches are the same, so try a few to find one you’re comfortable with. Check out Joel Osteen on TV even; very positive. With either of these two, you might meet some new friends along the way. Good luck 🙂

I have been suffering from post partum depression for the past one year when I gave birth to a baby boy. I couldn’t stop thinking about how my husband loves him more than me and how things might be better if he wasn’t born at all. Thus, I stayed away from him because I knew that I might do something I will regret for the rest of my life.

Almost instantly I went to a therapist and convince them that I need help. Among other things, I’ve tried herbal supplements and other book to treat depression but nothing works like the Depression Free Method. So now I’m proud to say I’m one of the happiest mother in the world. My husband loves us both very much and I thank the Lord for the blessing he gave us.

Well, I would say you need to exercise. I went through depression and lack of motivation too. I got better by joining a swim team.

Words of encouragement

——————————————

Depression and discouragement don’t last forever,

Psalm 30:5, TLB.

“Weeping may go on all night, but in the morning there is joy.”

Cast your burden on the Lord, He shall sustain you;”

Matthew 11:28-30, KJV says,

“Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your soul. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”

go to this website, read it, it will help,God will help. I have been depressed and lacked motivation but you can’t live your life like that. you need help

Write down your goals and a plan to achieve them. Also get help from a doctor for your depression. Exercise does help. Good luck; hope you start feeling better!

Ask yourself one simple question, “how bad do you want it?”

(it is up to you and only you to succeed and overcome your problems because it is pointless to blame yor problems on others and to sulk around feeling bad for yourself). I also agree that exercise is vital to feeling good and living a healthy life plus there is something rewarding about pushing yourself to the limit and improving your physical abilities.
