How to license your product to universities?

Hello,

I am working on a web application that I believe will greatly help college students in learning and collaborating. I was wondering what processes I needed to go through to show, pitch, and finally (hopefully) get the university to pay a set fee to use my product.

First, you must ask yourself, is this new web software or application system patent-able? If yes, go and do the Provisional Patent Application, where you can shop your product around up to 1 year. If not, then you must ask, what makes your system better than what is out there in the market?

Now, when you are ready, the best person to pitch your ideas is to the head honcho. Who is that? It is the Dean or one of the presidents of the colleges. Don;t be shy and call your dean’s office and tell him or her about your creation.

In reality, you don;t have anything to lose. Most students who have a new idea or creation don;t act on them so therefore losing out. Don’t be one of those people! However, act fast before someone comes up with the same application and beat you to the punch! 🙂

Keep me updated!
