How to get pharmacy experience?

I’m only a soph in high school but the college that I want to go to is St. Louis College of pharmacy (6 year program right out of hs). Besides activities and being involved in school, what actual volunteer/work experience can I get in a pharmacy setting that would look good in my application? I know about pharm techs but I’m pretty sure do to get the training for certification for pharm tech you need to have graduated high school allready. So would it be possible just to go to a retail pharmacy place and see if there are any volunteer opportunities?

Work at a pharmacy. You can learn a lot that way.

Most retail pharmacies do not want volunteers. You’re better off trying to volunteer at a hospital pharmacy. Some states do allow 16/17 years old to be pharm techs, but many pharmacies do not hire them.

Training to become a pharm tech takes time and money (up to 3k at some institution). I recommend becoming a clerk or just volunteer at a local independent pharmacy.
