how should i manage my time to handle academics and org or extra curricular activities at the same time?

i am a college student from the philippines and most of the time, i find it hard to handle my academic loads and org activities at the same time. but i can’t give up my org works because, somehow they mold me to be a well-rounded person. but i don’t want to take my academics for granted too because in the first place, it should be my priority.

I was very active during college and it can definately be a balancing act. If you live on campus, it is much easier as hopefully everything you need is right there; library, study halls, cafeteria, laundry room. If this is the case, I would say have a calendar with you at all times, constantly review that calendar to make sure that you are sticking to the schedule that you set for your self. Have a set time for classes (ideally between 8am to 5 pm), have a set time for those organization meetings (hopefully no later than 9pm), have your set time for studying (evening times, and also take advantage of those times in between clasees-you may have an hour or two in between classes). Also, take advantage of weekends. Reward yourself by sleeping in then be sure to use the afternoon time to study. I’m pretty sure your friends will want to hang out, so try to schedule something late afternoon, maybe after four and after all studying is done. Same thing with Sunday. You can also use these Saturday and Sunday times to complete anything associated with your organizations. Also, be sure not to overload your schedule. I am not sure what year you are in, but you have four + years to get involved with organizations. You may be in an organization that you we’rent in your senior year, that you were not in your sophmore year. You can also opt to be in a organization one semester, and not be involved the next. Choose wisely based on your academic schedule and don’t be afraid to say no to organizations that may require a lot of meeting times and extra work. Academics are still the priority. Also remember, as time goes on and as you practice this, you will perfect more and more, the art of time management and balancing priorities and deadlines. Don’t be to hard on yourself as this learning experience may go well beyond college graduation
