they can cost anywhere from$5 dollars to $250 dollars. The trick is to find somewhere you can get them cheap. Once you have registered for classes, find out your book list. The first place I would look is the internet. if you type in buy college textbooks in any search engine, you’ll get over 20 sites that will sell it to you. There should also be a place where students sell their old books on campus. the trick is to sell the books back for as much as you can get. The same things works for textbook buy backs too.

science math and chem books can range from about 100-300 dollars depending upon the course and what book is used.
lit classes run about 80-100 for books
music- 80-100
language classes- either really cheap (60 or so) to really expensive 180
so usually per semester i have $500 saved away.. That should be enough. If you have a heavy load of science classes though it could be more, or less.
Try used books for cheaper prices.. or Amazon.com or abebooks.com are also good and less than what your University bookstore usually marks stuff up as.

Books can get REALLY expensive. Certain classes like Literature, History, Language and more social sciences tend to be around a $100 or less per class. Maths, Sciences (Bio, Chem, etc), Marketing, Nursing, Law, etc are usually $100-$200 per class. It helps if you work at the bookstore (I do) because you get a discount which really does help or you could try buying for sellers at amazon.com or other places like half.com or ebay.com It’s best to have around $400-$500 per semester just for books, but ask around and go to www.ratemyprofessor.com to help you find out how much the teacher is actually doing to use the book (a $200 book is useless if the teacher never uses it)

It varies. I have had books that cost $25. And then I have had books that were $250. Ususally the books that are the most expensive are the ones related to your major and then there are the math and science books. Sometimes your school has a list of the books you need and you can probably find them for cheaper if your order off of the internet. i.e. Half.com and amazon.com

entirely too much. as some of these other people have said, buy them online for sure. you’ll spend hundreds more at the campus bookstore. just an example, i bought a book for one of my history classes from a normal everyday book store for the cover price..that which the book printing company printed on the book itself, for $4.25. The university wanted over $25 for the exact same book..the writer expects 4 bucks the university expects 25. stupid
