The term “Master Carpenter” means different things in different jurisdictions – and some don’t have such a thing. Perhaps you’re thinking of “Journeyman Carpenter”. This is the normal title after you finish an apprenticeship in carpentry. An apprenticeship normally takes three-four yours and combines work, with day release school or night school. You have to be sponsored for apprenticeship by an employer and log several thousand work hours with him. In some jurisdictions, apprenticeship is co-sponsored by a union.
Good for you for looking into an apprenticeship. Too many students think college/university is the only way to get a satisfying career and they end up with a worthless degree.
