As important as thinking of going to some place in Europe for a vacation, witha business class return ticket and stuff but not having the money to buy it. College education would give you the money to buy that vacation.

A college education is important if you don’t want to work for low wages (whatever that may be for you). If you want to move into management in any kind of industry (McDonalds through Donald Trump’s empire you will need at the least a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college. An associates degree won’t cut it. In many places a Masters Degree is preferred in the area that the company is in. MBA (masters of business administration) or MM (masters of management) will allow you to move to middle and upper management. That being said it does depend on what you want to do. If you only want to do construction work and you want to not be foreman of the jobsite or managment or even owner then a vocational school might be ok or no college.

It does seem like there is degree inflation for jobs in the current market which just means that the employers want as much education as someone can have to do the job – even entry level jobs. The research I’ve seen this year (don’t have the sources) state that the jobs that high school students will be doing in 10 years haven’t even been created yet. This means we are going to a service type of industry for the most part and this requires a higher level of education than what has been required in the past.

Hope this helps and good luck.

A college education doesn’t guarantee you a life of luxury, but it opens doors that would otherwise be shut to you. Many employers will not hire people for supervisory or management positions without a college degree unless they have a lot of experience (like 10 years or more). The list of specialty jobs that require you to have a college degree in order to get a job is endless — doctor, lawyer, computer programmer, engineer, architect, just to name a few.

A college degree can be VERY important to a woman because many women don’t get a college education and end up getting married, having children, getting divorced, and then have to support their children as a single mom on a very low income (and often don’t get child support no matter how many times they go to court over it).

Put it this way: If you get a college degree, there’s a good chance that you’ll get a job where you work Monday through Friday, make good money, have medical insurance, and get at least two weeks paid vacation a year. If you don’t get a college degree, chances are you’ll only be able to get a job where you make an hourly wage that you can barely survive on, working all kinds of crazy hours, no benefits, and no paid vacation.

Think of a college education as an investment in your future. It’s worth putting in the extra time and effort now so you don’t have to work as hard to have a nice life later.

get a college degree – don’t pick a very general major like (communications, etc) pick something more specialized. also while in college I can’t stress enough the importance of internships if they’re available in your field of study. I have 1 friend that doesn’t have a college degree, she is really struggling in her field. There are some cases of people getting high paid jobs w/o a college education – but how many of those people exist in today’s world? Not many. I compare those w/o a college education to those who don’t know how to use a computer – you’re screwed! But there are options, just like those can take computer classes, you can get that degree. Apply for financial aid and go do it. Don’t limit yourself – most employers will bypass anyone with just a HS education. Give yourself a fighting chance, get that BA/BS degree and then go further once u land the job you want.

STATISTICALLY, a college education translates to more money. That is to say, that a college educated person is more likely to earn a higher annual income than someone who did not go to college.

There are, of course exceptions to any statistical result. A clever entrepreneur may pull down millions while a college graduate in the fine arts may be serving hash at a local diner.

But the college education give people more tools to find opportunities to earn higher salaries. Some people can make good use of these tools while, for others, they are wasted. Some people do not have the energy, or discipline to get those benefits. Trade schools are a very good alternative.

What is almost for sure, is that a high school diploma is woefully inadequate for preparing most people to succeed in today’s job market. It is merely a start.

Is a College Education Important?

By Eugena Anthony

While some individuals are searching for the perfect college or university to attend, others may be questioning the importance of a college education and if they should even go to school. Whether or not a college education is important or even necessary depends on your career and salary goals.

Unless you are the heir to a fortune, earning an income is a necessary part of life. How do you plan to make the money to house, feed, clothe yourself and pay your bills?

Professional, corporate, and many government jobs require a minimum of a bachelor’s degree to be considered for employment.

Jobs in fields like nursing, culinary arts, cosmetology, technology, and automotive careers may require an associate’s degree or the completion of a certificate program.

You could become a business owner without receiving a formal education. However, it may be necessary to take some entrepreneurial classes or hire and accountant and lawyer in order to build and maintain a successful business. Jobs in areas like public utilities, construction, and even some administrative positions may only require a high school diploma or GED if you possess the relevant skills.

When deciding on a career you should ask yourself; will I be happy performing the job and will the pay be enough for the lifestyle I desire? If you can not decide on a career or at least an area of interest, then you may want to wait on going to college. You could end up spending time and money taking courses in one major that may not count at all towards your degree if you change your major at a later time.

If a job that doesn’t require formal education appeals to you then you could be fine without college. But if your desired career requires a degree or certificate and if you would like to earn an income that affords you a more comfortable lifestyle, then a college education is very important.

Most high-paying jobs nowadays require some form of college education so if you are looking into any special fields or do not want to be stucking working for 10 bucks an hour someplace college is extremely importatn.

It depends on how many GCSE’s you get at high school. If you don’t get many you can retake them and get A Levels. To me it’s really important because I haven’t paid enough attention at high school so hopefully I can make up for it at college.I know this sounds geeky but you should make the most of education.

Important for what? Very or not at all depending on what you want to do. For many jobs, it’s a necessity. For many jobs, it gives you a slight edge over people who never went. For some jobs it doesn’t matter at all.

Then there’s always the issue of wanting to become educated for it’s own sake. There again, it can be helpful, but not always so.
