How great are my chances of getting into Georgetown, John Hopkins or Columbia (undergrad)?

I am currently a Hispanic high school junior with a 3.83 unweighted GPA. My most recent SAT score was an 2250, although I plan on taking it at least twice more to imrpove my score. I also plan on taking the ACT, yet still have not.

I have taken AP US GOV/Politics and gotten a 4 on exam.

This year, my schedule is:

– AP Macroeconomics

– AP Microeconomics

– AP Language and composition

– AP Chemistry

– AP World History

– AP French Language

& Honors Pre-Calculus

Extracurriculars:

– Model UN (will become president next year)

– Debate (will become co-president next year)

– Forensics (Speech giving)

– Students for Change in Darfur

– Young Democrats Club (President of Recruitment)

– Mock Trail (President)

– I ran track and did marching band for one year each

National, French , Science, and Math honors societies.

– Next year I will obtain an Argentine high school diploma from an Argentine Saturday school (Spanish language)

I speak fluent French and Spanish as well.

wow, can’t do much better than that. Because those schools are super competetive, you’re not for sure going to get in, but you have the credentials to get.

I would say save the time and money you plan to spend on taking the ACT and the SAT two more times, because that’s a great SAT score already, and you’re very likely to get into all those schools. With a 2250, you should definitely take it only once more. You already have a high score, and people who take standardized tests too many times run the risk of looking like they’re too concerned about the wrong things.

Wow, you’ve done really well…I think you have a good chance at getting in to ALL of them. They’re pretty much all on the same ‘level’ so I can’t say one over the other!

You will most likely get a scholarship…although you might want to check, since you might have one of the lower GPA’s compared to the other kids applying to those schools (crazy, isn’t it?)

Get great recommendations from your teachers and write a killer essay and you should be all set. And start researching scholarships NOW because it’s a lot of additional time and paperwork!

I don’t have a concrete answer for your question, but I wanted to drop in and say that your academics make me incredibly jealous. If you don’t get into Georgetown, I probably won’t make a community college.
