You have to be an RN. MOST hospitals want their management candidates to have a bachelors degree.
I was a head nurse with an ASN – I became charge nurse after about 10 months and head nurse after another year. BUT everyone is different. I had the skills to be an effective manager, before I got my bachelors.
I now teach health care management.
