How do I encourage my students to see me for help when they need it?
The truth is that I really do care! I want them to succeed, but I don’t want to “give away” passing grades to students who haven’t earned them by acheiving what they need to move on.
So how do I convince them that I care, and encourage them to come see me when they need help?

Another thing you could do is use this falls students to survey and find out what they would like to see, within reason. Some students will never get that learning is their responsiblity. You probably won’t be able to help those students.
Once you show that you are available and willing to offer help, they will realize that you care.
On a side note, without knowing your personality, their could be something there as well to work on. I have the problem with my managment style because I don’t smile that much and don’t act that cheerful. People tend to take that to mean that I am angry or sad and making me more unapproachable.
That said, I *do* encourage them to come by whenever they need to, want to, etc. Typically I get students who don’t need help coming by (which is fine too). I hope you get more answers!
