How do I become amazing at writing so colleges will love it?

i wanna get into a really good college and as you know the main thing colleges are crazy about is how well you can write (grr) an essay (i mean they even have college essays just for admission) but i’m average…..but i wanna get to ‘kind of’ the ivy league standard like wow this essay is great!

but like most ppl i’m average (well a ditz sadly which makes it 10x ******* harder) so my essays turn out relly normal……but how do i get to the amazing level? my teacher isn’t really good so plz don’t say get help from her………there’s this 1 teacher though i could get help from but she’s like the ***** from hell(even adults don’t like her) (but giving with her time & relly good!) so i’m kinda scared

so any help guys? (o and i have to get good this yr so i can take eng. AP next yr otherwise my resume is gonna look relly bad….cuz u know how u shud have ap classes cuz it looks good for college)

If you’re worried about writing essays when you’re applying for college, my AP English teacher told us that you want to write something that will either make the reader (aka admissions counselor) laugh or cry. When you write, make sure your personality and individuality comes through; the content of your writing is just as important as the grammar.

If you really want to try advancing your writing before the college application process, see if you can take an English or writing class at a community college. If that’s not an option, I’m sure they have great books and resources at places like Barnes and Noble that can help you become a better writer.

Good luck!

It takes practice to become a really good writer. In fact, the style in which you write will be much different in college. You particularly will need to use a thesis statement in you essays. If you live close to a community college you could pick up a class/course there.

Start writing the entrance essay now! Have the b!tchy teacher look it over, other teachers you like, parents, friends… basically anyone you can think of. Get a hold of a thesaurus and replace “ordinary” words with their “intelligent” counterparts. Check out a book on writing college papers… or you can always look online. And revise the paper over and over. People aren’t born with great writing ability, it is acquired over time. So start practicing it now. Eliminate the slang from your writing. Don’t use text phrases like “u” or “rly” because it dumbs you down.

a big part of a great college essay is a good concept. even as you practice your “writing skills” by writing a bunch of other stuff and having a teacher help you, as discussed above, be thinking of you most interesting idea or life experience and start drafting the application essay itself.

Three words: practice, practice, practice. Practice makes perfect! The more you write, the better you will become. Don’t go up to your teachers, even the “B”-word and ask how to become a better writer–go up to them with an essay or other piece you have already completed and ask them for tips. Through their revision, you will see the areas you are lacking in and be able to build your skills.

Why not find a tutor from a good college. Bye the way it isn’t you it’s the teacher who is the ditz.

Another good tip is to edit other people’s essays. When you read, you notice mistakes that are very apparent and annoying and it will help you prevent yourself from making the same mistakes.

well if you take time out with your English teacher everyday after school and have him or her help you improve your writing skills…

you have to be devoted and be willing to accept the constructive criticism from your teacher while doing this…

it has helped me out a lot…
