Rubi,

First you must focus in on getting into med school. Then the finances can come later. It looks like that you will be able to qualify for government loans (love the USA for this). Then after you do get accepted, look for scholarships like crazy.

While a few students are able to pay directly for medical school, the vast majority of med students take out student loans. These loans are specifically for medical school and are over and above the loans taken out for undergrad.

The scholarships that are offered by a few of the medical schools are not awarded based on scholastic ability. The majority are humanitarian awards, so I wouldn’t anticipate receiving one.

The average medical student completes medical school with about $200,000 of debt and is able to pay it off in 7 years.

Usually not with scholarships. Most people take out loans to cover the cost.

Grant, scholarship or Student Loan.

It will be a $200,000 to $400,000 debt for a loan.

BUT you will make $60,000+ upon getting a license to practise.
