Depends. If the house is recognized by the university, they can get some funding in that manner. Usually, if you join you pay a certain amount.. and many have fundraisers (of sorts). Also, fraternity and sorority member who have graduated sometimes donate to their group.

By the members of the fraternity/sorority. They are expensive to join.
Although I have heard there are some cover charges at some schools for fraternity parties. That would help.

From members due’s and Alumni giving. It depends on the institution but many houses are donated from alumni of that house. Parties are usually paid for by your dues, but again it varies by institution.
