In many ways, houses have been very important — we excavate sites to see how ancient societies have lived and set up their homes. Droves of people travel to see castles in Europe, and the remains of the upper echelon’s ancient ways of living. We study fresco paintings of “normal houses” inside buildings. The problem with history is that those in lower castes and levels of society often do not have houses still standing for us to study and review.

More recently, we have famous architects making a distinct mark on buildings — Frank Lloyd Wright’s homes are very important to that style of architecture.
