Favorite Answer
A year of Freshman Chemistry along with the appropriate laboratory courses
A year of Organic Chemistry along with laboratory courses
A year of Biology along with laboratory courses
A year of Physics along with laboratory courses
A year of English
A year of Calculus or other advanced math class
So, those are the classes you need to take at community college or at NEU, the classes you’ll need before you take the MCAT and apply to med school.
The number of classes you can take probably depends on the number of credits each class will be. For that, look at the web site of the community college you are considering. You should take no more than 21 credits in a quarter – 15 to 18 is better.
For your other community college classes, use courses that will count for “distribution” credits at NEU or will count toward your major at NEU. At NEU, choose a major you can do well in. Be careful to get A’s in your classes every year starting with your first year of college. A couple of B’s are all right but you will need a good transcript in order to get into med school.
The premed forum at www.studentdoctor.net might be helpful to you. Good luck.
Physics for science major, Calculus for science major,
not Business Calculus, Microbiology, General Chemistry 1
and General Chemistry 2, and the last Organic Chem 1 and Organic Chem 2.
Hope that helps! If not, you can find a book on medical school at Barnes and Noble that you can look up or
go to the med school’s website and check out the prequisities there under ‘admission.’
