Some ideas:

Help with the DARE program

help police with more police checkpoints to catch drunk drivers

help raise money for new roads (if roads are bad)

A birth control seminar for middle school kids (if teenage pregnancy is a problem)

Help older people get groceries and pick up prescriptions etc.

Help the humane society collect money, and help inform people to spay or neuter their animals.

Help paint over graffiti

Help fund a community center for teens (keep them away from drugs)

Start a tutor program after school for younger kids.

Here is one idea: work with legal aid or consumer protection lawyers of some kind to create a one-page warning for seniors about the kinds of scams they shouldn’t fall for. Make copies, and hand them out in places where you might find seniors.

Another: Coordinate a system of rides for doctor’s appointments.

Another: Survey local pharmacies to see which ones deliver. Get the list out to seniors. Find sponsors who might be willing to pay delivery costs in return for having their ads included in the delivery envelope.

Some of these things work better in a small town, and some in larger cities. You didn’t specify. Hope I still helped.
