Has anybody ever transfered colleges before? If so what are some of the reasons why you transerred? I have been thinking about transerring colleges for two reason

1. they would have the major that I am intrested in prusing

2. I feel like I belong at a different college.

I did because of your first reason. But I primarily transferred because I was transferring from a community college to a university, which offered the Finance degree that I wanted to pursue.

The different college thing I never really had a passion for. To me a school is a school, and as long as it offers the degree I want and it happens to be closeby I’ll take it. It’s what I do with the degree afterwards that matters to me most.

Although if you plan on transferring please be sure it accomodates you to do so. If it’s in the early stages of your schooling then it’s real easy. If it’s in the later stages of your schooling, chances are you can only transfer 50% of your classes (at most, and depending on how far you are from graduating) meaning you might have to either retake or take substituting classes for your degree. Good luck with your schooling.

your number 2 reason fits my situation. I wanted to go away for college so I went from the suburbs of Jersey to a inner city in Philly, PA. The school was a good one, but I really hated Philly (no offense to those that live there). It was a very depressing city, imo. Me and my two roommates didn’t get along, I didn’t have many friends and I just didn’t ‘feel’ right there. I left after one semester after much crying, confusion. I made the choice to return to NJ to a nicer, safer environment. I graduated in May and haven’t looked back since. Think about where you want to go, in the end you’re the one that has to hold that degree and pay those loans back. Make it worth it b/c college is not cheap these days! I get my student loan payment in the mail, and I’m not angry about my choice to leave – had I stayed in Philly maybe things would’ve panned out, who knows? But at the time, it just wasn’t right for me. Make sure you do research about where u want to go, you don’t want to keep bouncing around, b/c that’s not good either…. It’s hard to make yourself fit into a new environment, but something has to be said for at least trying and finally transferring. I think i’m ready for another city (grad school, NYC). Good luck!
