I hate to say it – but if you are having trouble with a 101 class – then you are going to have trouble with some of the upper level classes, too. Get used to talking to your prof’s now – they will appreciate the effort you put into to learning.

One of the things that may help in the long run – is to take a foriegn language class – in particular a romance language class (french, spanish) or latin or greek. Or see if your university has a class that deals with learning the prefixes and suffixes that are rooted in latin and greek. So many of the words used in fields like poli-sci are rooted in these languages and learning some of them will really help.
