im a rising junior and im planning on taking IB korean, spanish 4, and ap english lit. next year. how does that look for colleges? would that wow them or would it be like normal for ivy league. im korean, so i can read, write, and speak fluently, so would that not look good as if i weren’t korean?

and should i take the sat subject test for spanish or korean if i know for sure that i will do much better on the korean one..

any suggestions will be appreciated

Most universities are looking for people who are culturally and academically diverse. I would suggest that you scratch Korean (since you already know it) and pick up a language that is interesting and very different from what the typical Korean might take that will show the university you are applying for that you are open to new experiences and interested in things far outside of your culture, like Arabic.

I know a woman who now works at the UN — she’s rather high ranking. She is Korean and speaks/writes fluently in Korean, English, Arabic, and French. How man Koreans speak those combined languages? Not many. And you can easily assume that it helped her get into Harvard — where she graduated a few years back.

Push your boundaries and explore things that are new and different and that you will find rewarding and interesting.

I say stick with what you know best and Korean is alot harder than Spanish. If you get an A on that, I believe it counts more than an A on Spanish.

just take one for korean. i didnt even know they had a subject test for korean. but anyway it’s good to take hard classes and get a B-ish in them than taking an easy class and getting an A
