Expected salary of college grad with bachelors!?

I am wondering everyone’s opinion of what they would expect to make if they graduated with a bachelors degree in any field and were looking for a job after graduation. I was given an offer of 25,000 a year but I feel that is too low. Please let me know your opinions or what you first started out at when you graduated.

While this is not an impressive offer, it isn’t surprising. I found myself in a similar position when I finished graduate school. I had to take a job paying $28K for a couple years to get a little experience. I had to suffer through this for about 3 years, but my next job more than doubled that amount and I expect the salary to continue to rise in the future.

As for the appropriateness of $25K, realize that your degree does matter. If you are an RN, that is far too little. If your degree is in special education, that is normal.

Also consider where you are living. $25,000 is a lot more money in a small town in Mississippi than it is in Los Angeles.

When I finished school, I felt like I had paid my dues and was owed a good salary. Unfortunately, the reality is that you are just beginning to pay your dues as you build substantial experience.

25K around Philly is really bad. That’s teacher/social worker salary. If you’re doing that level of work, then you can’t expect much more. Teacher’s should still get 30K. They’re probably low-balling you. Tell them that you have other options and that you need something more than $25K.

You didn’t mention what you majored in.
