Both will lead to good paying jobs with lots of opportunity. It really depends on what your preferences are. Plus, a great deal of engineering learning overlaps, what’s important is that you know the basic physical concepts extremely well.
I graduated from school with a MechE degree but wound up working in what would be a EE job (electric power distribution). Most companies just want to know that you’re smart enough to handle the engineering curriculum.

If you do well, there are tons of opportunities in both. You can be an engineer, and will also be in a good position to move up into management later on if that turns out to be what you want. They both pay very well. In your freshman year you’ll take pretty much the same courses for either one, so just see what you like better.
