Double major- Buisness and Psychology?

Okay so I really enjoy psychology, but with a basic psych degree you can’t do anything. So i was thinking maybe major in both buisness and psychology, or maybe minor is psych major in buisness. Which do you think would be more beneficial and what kind of jobs would it allow me?

People often work in jobs that have absolutely nothing to do with their degree so don’t overload your schedule just for that reason. If you get a psych degree, you will still have a good shot at landing a business job so it shouldn’t matter too much.

If you like Psych, but know it won’t do anything for you, why do it? You can be a Psychologist, a Psychiatrist, or a teacher with that degree, but if none of these interest you, why pursue it? Probably better to minor in it or just read up on it on your own.

Again, most people often change their degrees while attending college, and many end up working in positions outside of their degree after college.

I’ll start by noting that a BA in psychology qualifies you to do exactly the same things as a BA in business. Were you aware that less than 50% of the CEOs of the Fortune 500 hold a degree in business? So much for career training.

Look, you’re going about it backwards. You’re picking majors and then asking what jobs they can lead to.

Let’s do it the better way; ask yourself what career would make you most fulfilled, and then choose the major that leads to that career.

Your campus must have a career counseling office that can help you with these questions. They should have the tools to assess your aptitudes and attitudes and to use those assessments to generate a list of careers that would suit you. Then they can advise what to major in, and also help when it’s time to create resumes, contact employers, and prepare for interviews.

Who knows? Maybe you’re best suited to be the managing director of a psychological services clinic, and the career people will tell you to major in business with an emphasis on health care management, and minor in psych. But my experience is that relatively young students rarely wind up in the career that they first envisioned–get the career development experts to help you and you’ll settle on your eventual goal sooner.

minor in psych and major in buisness if you like psych. This can give you a chance to work in the human resource department of a company if you like. The human resource department can be a “foot in the door” to corporate counseling. With this degree combination you will have a job and gain valuable experience quickly. With the experience and money you might save, you can further your skills in psych and be more successful. That’s what I would recomend as a strategy 😉 Best of wishes!!

Just an AA alone in business you can do so much, you need a Master in psych to do anything. I would minor in it in less you really want a life long career.
