Door rooms?

I’m a senior in high school & I have to apply to college soon..Anyway, Is it possible to have a dorm room by myself? How do I go about that? Is it more expensive? I really don’t want to share a room.

Also, is there dorms where theres like 2 rooms, a livingroom and a kitchen, that 2 people share? My mom said she seen one of those, and I wouldn’t mind that.

Yeah, what are these dorms called? and are they easy to get? more expensive?

explain please.

Hi! Wow, I just came on Yahoo answers looking for high school students to direct to some of my articles…and then I found your question.

My answer is that yeah, you can get a individual dorm room for yourself in college, but it will surely be at least 250 dollars more expensive.

If you don’t want to live with someone else my best advice is for you to go to the apartments on or near off campus. Those will allow you to have a kitchen, a living room, usually separate bathrooms and there will be more than one room. Those are usually cheaper than the dorms.

It may be possible to get a single room as a freshman, but most single rooms will be taken by older students. Single rooms are more expensive than sharing with a roommate. Most college dorm rooms don’t have kitchens, but some colleges have suites which are two rooms linked by a bathroom. You may have to share your room with another person, or just share the bathroom or living room, but either way a suite is more expensive than a double room. If you do not want to live with someone else, then you will end up paying more.

the dorm types vary widely between colleges. you can apply for a single, but usually as a freshman they are very limited. some schools will also charge more for singles.

usually the dorm room you described are called suites. you would have a suitemate. once again it depends on the college that you choose as too availability and price.

if you want a certain type of dorm you should really research the colleges you are applying to, because if you really don’t want to share a room it would weigh in on your decision to apply/attend that college.

and advice: the dorms they show you on the tours are very rarely as nice as the ones you’ll get.
