Does this sound somewhat correct?

I want to go to Spelman College and major in journalism (they don’t have it as a major, but i can make it one). While I’m there, I want to study education (i want to tutor children and model as a side job once i’m out of college). I also want to study psychology and further my studies in spanish and french. That is 5 different courses i plan on taking. Then, once i get my bachelor’s in journalism from spelman, i want to go to new york university and get my master’s degree in my major which would be magazine writing. i would also like to get a certificate in public relations and get my bachelor’s in psychology there as well. lastly, i would like to get a certificate in magazine publishing. That is 4 courses i would be taking there. Is that enough courses for NYU, and do these classes sound about right because i want to be a model/writer/ tutor? I want to be in public relations writing or write for a magazine like CosmoGirl. Thank you and God bless!

Write to Cosmo Girl and the modeling agency you have your eye on. Tell them your plans and dreams. Also, write NYU regarding a degree plan for you. You have lofty ambitions, there is direction, but you need guidance in the form mentioned. You’ll be flying like a balloon with no direction if you start your plan on your own. Trust me.

Are you just doing this for the job or personal interest?

If it for personal interest, then go knock yourself out. Otherwise, might wanna refine and focus on your studies. Like, if you are certifited in pulic relations… do you need a pysch degree?

I wouldn’t say it is impossible. My best recommendation I guess is to talk with the director of undergraduate/graduate studies in the programs. Might be safer to dual in journalism and physcology at Spelman. Then you are certification and masters at NYU.

You don’t really need to study education to be a tutor really. I am a tutor at my university where I tutor college students in math and physics. For awhile, I also tutored grade school childern in math and writing, which was an unverisity outreach service. So, after getting some course work and grades under you belt, see if you college provides tutors. I would check the departments of the courses you want to tutor in or any academic retention/support services.

forget the education courses, you don’t need anything they will attempt to teach you. What you need as a tutor is course work in the subject. You might consider a Bachelor’s in Journalism with a minor in psychology. You could always take languages as electives.
