Does it really matter where you go to college? Will you have the same amount of fun?

Im looking into colleges and my biggest concern right now is having fun and the “college life”. I feel like if i go to this one school i wont have fun. But i hear most people say that it doesn’t matter where you go, you will have that same fun as anyone else at any other college. Is this true? Im looking at schools in Abany and Boston (i would def have fun in boston). But idk if i would have fun in Albany and some colleges in smaller towns, like in the middle of no where. Does it really matter where the college is located? Will i have fun even in a in a small town where it snows a lot(Erie, PA)? Or would i have better luck just going to Boston?

Seriously? Your “biggest concern” about finding a college is the amount of fun you’re going to have? You’re spending your mommy & daddy’s money on school, & your “biggest concern” is fun??? Get real. Your main concern in finding a school is if they offer the curriculum you want to devote your career to, & how good their programs are.

That being said, you’ll have fun pretty much anywhere. I went to a small, Lutheran based, private college & we partied as much as anyone.

Look in that big ole Princeton review book for descriptions of what student life is like at each school you are interested in. Some schools have a lot of local kids that disappear on the weekends which sort of diminishes the fun.

Sometimes a school in the middle of nowhere can be fun as long as there’s enough going on AT the school itself (frat parties, etc.) If there’s a larger student body, you’ll probably have more to do socially.

Don’t listen to the d-bags on here telling you to focus exclusively on studying (especially the moron who said “Your an idiot”). Yes, the most important thing in college is to do well academically. But you’d be throwing out 4 great years of your life if all you did was sit in your room and study. Go to class, do your homework, and study but when the weekend rolls around, get out and have some fun!!! I’m not simply talking about parties either. Do things you would’ve never done in high school, volunteer for things, sign up for an interesting club, etc.

If I had to choose between hiring a great student who did nothing else but study and a good student who was well rounded, had a variety of interests, and was able to interact with people well, who do you think I would pick?

In the end, college is what you make of it. Most of the people that I went to school with had a great time, because they went out, tried new things, and relaxed. A couple of people hated their experience since they did nothing but sit around and play video games.

Thus concludes my diatribe. Good luck with your decision!!

Well every school is different, but smaller schools in rural areas tend to have a lot of campus activities since theirs nothing else to do. but if you go to a larger school you have off campus and on-campus activities to do and a lot of clubs that you go to. Everyone has their reasons of going to college and i don’t see why some people are putting it down. and besides “college is supposed to be the best time of your life” If you want to have fun I suggest going to a big school in a city and also looking at the honor system and visiting residents and asking if they have any parties up there or not. then make your decision

All colleges are different…and it depends on the person as well…college is what you make it, but if you want to have the best experience try picking a coleege campus that offers a lot of varietys in activities and social events….you want to go to a college that has a lot to offer you ..when it comes to meeting new ppl and things like that….my college is rather small..and its a commuter school…so not many people are willing to stay on campus when they are done with classes….if i could go to another college I probably would….the town my college is in is quite boring too…so theres really nothing to do..so pick something that ur goin to like…hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!

They’re all different. The schools in cities with less to do usually have a lot of campus activities and campus life going on.

I’d go wherever the best scholoship is offered.

Paying for school afterward is a pain in the butt.

Wow, don’t even worry about the school. Find a college. Move there. DON’T EVEN bother enrolling. You will be on academic probation within the first two semesters, then kicked out. You might as well just take the money and spend it on your outifts to wear to the parties.
