Do you think good grades important for potential employers?

I am about to finish my electrical/electronic degree and my first couple of years my grades weren’t that great. I have improved a lot during my last two years with outstanding results but my earlier results are haunting me…I have one fail in there too (out of about 32 subjects).

Do potential employers ask for your grades and find them important? Does it depend on the person? Do they look at your entire degree or just the last year or two? Just curious about what people think…thanks in advance for any answers.

they may look at your grades, but they will not take them into account that much…my friend ( a lawyer at a real good firm) told me that he had a bunch of interviews to do to hire some people and particularly told me that one girl who had the absolute most perfect transcript froze during the interview and one boy who had the absolute worst transcript had the greatest interview (it was like a conversation) and the boy was offered the job…grades don’t mean much, and in your case, your grades got better over time which shows initiative and dedication…I think you’ll be fine if you come off with a good personality who can be trained well and mesh well with the company…good luck!

They will look at your whole degree, but particularly your last couple of years. The fact that you have shown such improvement will impress potential employers. That is the sort of thing they look for. Don’t worry about the earlier results – the more recent ones are more important.

I’ve never heard of an employer looking at your grades, they just check to see if you got a degree. If by some chance they would look at grades (which they probably won’t do) they will see your improvement. I’m applying to medical schools, and even they say they put an emphasis on the later years (gradewise).
