Do you need to be really good at algebra to become a doctor?

I’m like 75% ok at it, nothing special.

To actually work as a doctor doesn’t require you be really good at any one particular subject, interestingly enough. It’s not the doctoring itself that requires the subject – it’s the entrance into medical school that is the hurdle.

What you do need to be good at as a doctor is to be good at staying calm, listening for “hidden messages” in patients’ stories, decisiveness, quick-thinking and, some say, gestalt or instinct. But the most important thing about the road to becoming a doctor is sheer hard work… not even so much intellectual brilliance, just the will to work. And work. And work some more.

So no, you don’t have to be really good at algebra to actually be a doctor, but you do need to have decent grades in algebra (and just about everything else) to enter medical school (after which you can toss your algebra out of the window unless, like me, you find algebra calming… these days I do it after I come home from a long day at work to forget about my patients!)

In order to be a doctor, you need to take higher-level science courses, most of which require higher-level math like calculus. Without a solid foundation in algebra, you can’t do calculus. So while you might never need to solve a quadratic equation to treat patients, it matters.

Take Chemistry. you need to have a sturdy awareness of it to succeed in college (chemistry is regularly a weed out type for wanna be docs). The distant places language relies upon on which college you come to a decision to attend. It would not injury to take it so i might suggestion you circulate forward and do it.

well…doing good in algebra would be an added advantage..however i think that you can survive..the best thing you need to do is try a bit harder…and if you really want to be a doctor then you just have to be focused and aim high

You should be generally intelligent, in every subject.

Doctors are like astronauts. They are the academic cream of the crop.

I think that you can survive. A doctor does not ordinarily need math as much as he needs biology, chemistry, a lot of intelligence, and hardwork.
