Do you do Online-Courses for college/university?

Hi! Im looking at the possibility of doing distance learning (taking online courses for college/university) and I want to know which would be the best.

So, if you do distance learning, can you please tell me:

– whether or not the institution is accredited

– the types of courses available online

– whether or not an entire certificate or degree can be earned online

– the required fees

You don’t have to answer all of the dashes, just the ones you know….

Thank you VERY much for your information and help!!!

Just a warning: regional accreditation is only a minimum requirement. The reputation of the school is important – both for the quality of the education and for job prospects. For example, University of Phoenix is accredited, but the education and the degree you get there are worthless. Capella is another near-worthless school. Excelsior College and Western Governors University are starting to get fairly good names among on-line colleges.

Kaplan University is a for-profit school attracting mostly women.

If you must take a degree on-line, my advice is you should get accepted into a regular “brick & mortar” university which offers the same courses on-line as it does on campus. You should take as many courses on campus as possible – 50% ?

I attend the University of Phoenix Online. It is accredited. There are many courses available online. Yes, you can graduate with a degree from online schools. The fees vary according to where, what and how long. Here’s a link to a helpful web site for my state, PA. www.pheaa.org/plan_for_college/index.shtml It will let you search by options.

I checked out the link that Kalos posted. The issues there are really stupid. WAAAAA WAAAAAA

I take distance learning courses through my college, I can take them online and many professors that offer them are on campus so I can meet with them if I want to. I know you can earn an entire degree online, but it really depends on the field. My school offers pretty much every subject online (subject, not course, however). Everything from psych to accounting. Look into a few school and see what they offer.

I also had a coworker who was using Kaplan univ. online and I know that was accredited.

What i was told is do not go to an university that is only on-line, no professor to talk too. The are a few of those in MO they will not give you information over the phone; you give them yours and you will be contacted. Call around and find out if you have a person you can talk to if need be.
