Do I still get college credit for classes i toook prior to 10th grade?

Alright, so i’ve taken some college classes since about 7th grade until now, where i am a senior in high school. I recently heard that the college won’t take the GPA of any classes you took prior to 10th grade. But will i still have my credits from all those classes i took??!

Typically a college credit is a commodity that can be used at any college toward a degree, as long as it can count toward that degree. Nearly all colleges in the US transfer credits in from other ‘regionally accredited schools’.

However, transfer is at the discretion of the college. Some may only take credits from 4 year schools, some from anywhere, and some only from in-state schools. There is no standard.

The Feds would like transfer credits to be easier and are working on it. Some states (CA for example) have excellent transfer policies state wide at the state schools, and some don’t. Registrars, the office that actually does the transfer, are working on it. The typical student who graduated last year in the US had 6 transfer hours, so this is not an unusual question.

You will need to ask at the Registrar at the college where you end up.
