Training for a dental hygienist is a four-year program, including experience gained from working in a community clinic. Do you mean someone just out of college with little experience?
Pros:
good pay
flexible hours
professional/treated with respect
job security
can work anywhere
Cons:
working for someone else (dentist)
stressful (time crunch)
uncomfortable position bending over patient
anxiety from patient
working evenings and/or Saturdays
giving anesthesia
danger of blood-borne disease/pathogens
