Dartmouth vs. university of chicago?

Hey!!

I am recently looking for colleges.

yup, i am a senior at high school!!

anyone has experience with these two colleges above???

i know Dartmouth is Ivy league, but we can all see Univ. of Chicago’s ranking has been in the top ten in recent years. and Dartmouth didn’t even make it to top ten on US news & ranking this year, i believe Dartmouth is 11th.

nonetheless, give me some suggestions!!!

P.S. i am not sure about major i wanna be in yet.

They are both top schools in many subjects. For math or physics, the U of Chicago is fantastic – but Dartmouth is really good too. It might come down to just where you want to go to school and what kind of school you’re looking for. Never been to U Chicago, but I can tell you that Dartmouth is small, preppy, has good food, decent dorms, great people, nice town, and great professors.

For economics, U of Chicago is tops — they’ve had an ungodly number of Nobel Prize winners in the past 30 years.

No idea on Dartmouth’s strong points. But you really need to figure out what you want to study before making such a huge (and expensive) decision.

My advice is to visit both schools. Both are great schools but location wise, they are in much different places. Chicago is a big city, with lots of places to go and do while Dartmouth is in a small country-side town.

Where ever you end up, you’ll do great!

Both schools are excellent.

I agree that you should visit them, and read up on them in the 2008 Fiske Guide to Colleges (local/school bookstore, or at amazon.com for about $15.) They are very different in their locations, of course. No doubt they “feel” different, as well, when you’re on campus.

You’d be lucky — and highly qualified — to get into either of these schools. No doubt they both have many many more applicants than they can take.

dartmouth is a better school, period. it has always had a fabulous reputation (being in the ivy league…etc) and ALWAYS WILL…whereas the reputation of u chicago could be horrible in 10 years.

Duke Univ. has a great Biomed Engineering department. It’s amazing here. You will get many opportunities.However, it is extremely competitive and it’s not worth it to go to duke for any other type of engineering. I can’t really rank the other schools.
