Could I Get Into The University of Colorado at Boulder?

I’m a senior in high school this year and I have decided CU is my number one school right now. The problem is I’m not sure if my grades/credentials are good enough. I have around a 3.1 GPA and scored a 31 on my ACT. I took a wide range of fairly challenging classes in high school but I wasn’t very consistent in my grades. I have one main extracurricular (Speech and Debate for 3 years) but I haven’t done much volunteer work. What are my chances at getting in?

I would say good or better than good. Check their website out. I bet you can find some info on admission standards. Good luck!

check out the colorado school of mines if you’re interested in engineering, science, geo-anything, physics or mathematics. I have my BS and MS from CSM and really enjoyed my time there. I’ve had many friends at CU and they had a great time too. Boulder is a fun city.

I’d say you’re fine. Your ACT score is great and your GPA is still above a 3.0. Definitely list all of your extra-curricular activities and involvment in debate. I know a couple people that go there – they had about the same high school GPA, and their ACT scores were worse. So, I’d say you’re fine! Just don’t wait ’til the last minute to apply! G’luck!

I’d say pretty good. Make sure to play up your involvement in debate. You have a really good ACT score, so that should help even out your mediocre GPA.

Sometimes your admissions essay can really make the difference between getting in and not getting in. So I would focus on writing a good one, and making it stand out.
