Confused about credits, credit hours and units.?
I’m wanting to apply to a US university for my second year but I’m confused about credits, credit hours and units. I’ve taken 3 courses each worth 3 credit hours, so how many credits have I got? And It also says for each course that I’ve earned 18 units… so where does units fit in with the credits? Please help me I’m very baffled, how any credits do I have?

3 courses, each worth 3 credits = 3×3 = 9 credits.
Credits and credit hours are usually interchangeable terms.
About the “18 units” part – I can’t really help you there, that part’s unfamiliar to me.

Your time and credit don’t match the standard apprase of units. Did you also have a lab in one or more of those courses?
Units generally equal HOURS per class
Thus you should have had 6 hours per semester not 5 in the classroom
3 credits x 3 classes = 9 credit hours x 2 hours each equals 18.
18/9=2 hours per class
Which means 1 hour on Monday and Thursday for one class
1 Hour on Tues and Friday for another
