Community College?

So I waited to long and changed my mind so many times that im stuck going to a small commuity college for at least a year. I hated high school, I was really shy and I hated being called on. Is community college gonna be any different from highschool?

I strongly recommend community college. It is different from high school.

Don’t consider yourself “stuck”. You may find that you like the classes more and are more motivated to participate in class.

After graduating from a community college I am thinking about taking a few more classes there. I am familliar with the lay out of the campus and the cost of classes might not be as much as a 4 year school.

Community college is a good way to “get your feet wet”.

I wish you the best of luck!

It took me a long time to get my associates degree but am glad that I have it! I know that you weren’t asking that but stick with it!

It’s a lot different from high school. In Community College everyone is there by choice and they want to learn and better themselves.

Another difference is the wide range of ages. You sound like maybe you finished High School not that long ago. There are not only going to be students your age but lots that are way older then you. At 18 I remember having some classes where I was the youngest in the class. Some of the older people are going to be there because they regretted not going to college when they were younger. Some were busy raising their kids and now that they are grown up they are free to go to school. Some are there to take classes for fun or just because they want to learn something new. Maybe some people there have retired from their job and are doing it for there own personal benefit, or are going to be taking classes that are required by their jobs. Some people their will be right out of the military using the funds given to them for education, some are going to be right out of high school wanting to work on a degree, and some like me may already have a degree and just feel like taking some classes after work. There will be a much more diverse group of people in college.

In some classes you will be called on, and the work will be harder then in high school, but it is really worth going to college. And the best advice I can give you is study hard and get involved in school clubs, organizations, and activities.

Me
community college is a lot better than high school. it is taken more seriously but not as serious as a university, to me. i would say going to a community college is far better than going to a university for your 1st 2 years. After that, transfer to a university and do the last part of your degree.

Yes, it’s better. You get in, then get out. Go when you want. Sometimes I wish I could go back to highschool, just because I was always with a lot of friends there…then college came and everyone went different directions…it sucks… But that’s life!

I don’t know it really depends on your town. My town our community college is just like high school more or less.

A lot of kids from high school go to the community college. but its your second chance. Try to let people see the real not shy you.
