college student trying to manage my time, advice would be great?

I’m going to be a freshman at a small christian college this year. I am taking 14 hours this semester, and hope to join a sorority. I was offered a job at a doctor’s office today. They said it would only be a few days a week and that they would work around my school schedule. Does adding the job sound like too much? Or is that a good amount of stuff to do? I don’t need the money for basic needs, but it would be nice to have

It sounds like you’ve got a good plan. Working during school isn’t hard, but like you mentioned, it requires time management.

Get a planner/organizer and write down what you have to do for school and your work schedule–be consistent about this. If you’re a good student, 14 credits is good for your first semester. A sorority is a good place to meet people, as long as you don’t get caught up in the partying aspect of it (if there is one).

As far as the job goes, work no more than 20 hours per week. Numerous studies have shown that working more than 20 hours will correlate with your grades dropping. I’ve worked more than 20 and it’s hard but I have excellent time management skills (when I want to lol). If you don’t really need the money, stick to 10-15 hours/week and you should be fine. It’s good to have a little job experience during school anyway.

Good luck on your first year; I hope all goes well for you!

Love Exists?
Well I am taking 14 credit hours too and they include two lab courses. I have a weekend job at the pharmacy in the hospital and I plan on joining InshAllah PTK and other academic clubs and volunteer. and I am worried about the same thing, I asked this question like a couple of weeks ago and almost every one told me to have a daily planner and write down everything. have 2-3 hours of study time for every class. Good luck.
