College Requirements to become a pharmacist?

I am a junior in high school, and I have decided its about time to look into my future. One career option I am considering is becoming a pharmacist. If I want to go to college and study pharmaceutical science, what kind of grades / ACT score would I need to go to a state school such as U of I? ( I obviously live in Illinois, anything reputable would do. I of course would love to go to a ive-league college, but I couldn’t afford it let alone pass the classes.) I am an A-B student, sadly don’t participate in many activities outside of soccer, and have a spotless track record when it comes to attendance/behaviour. What will I need to do in order to study pharmacy in a state school like I said above?

Appreciate any answers.

UIC does not look at your high school record for pharmacy school. They require a minimum of 2 years of college. In my class 40% of the class did not have a bachelors. For the lower classes, that percentage is increasing.

If you have the grades, top 15% of class and ACT greater than 28, consider the GPPA program.

To go to pharmacy school, you usually need:

General chemistry with laboratory – 1 year

Organic chemistry with laboratory – 1 year

General biology or zoology with laboratory – 1 year

General physics with laboratory – 1 year

Anatomy – 3 semester units or 4 quarter units

Microbiology – 3 semester units or 4 quarter units

Biochemistry – 3 semester units or 4 quarter units

Calculus – 1 semester or 2 quarters

If you want to be competitive, you should get a baccalaureate degree in a science field. If you really are interested, check and see if colleges in your area have guaranteed admission program to their pharmacy school if you attend there as an undergraduate. I’m currently in the Trojan Admission Pre-Pharmacy Program (TAP) at USC. I know La Sierra University has a similar program for Loma Linda University’s School of Pharmacy. I’m really only knowledgable about California pharmacy schools, but I’m guessing that colleges in your state would have similar programs.

You need to take the following classes in college in order to apply to pharmacy school:

1 year of biology

1 year of chemistry

1 year of organic chemistry

1 year of physics

1 year of english

1 semester of public speaking

other humanities classes that is required by the school of pharmacy.

Most students major in bio because the requirements conincides with the major requirements.

Good Luck, bro!

hmm an R.O.P. class would most likely help, that way you’re able to take the test to get your Pharm. Tech. license which is a little over $100 because you hav to pay to get a finger print check & for the test as well. But they usually make like 40-50K just starting. As for the college im not to sure.
