The advantages of becoming a pharmacist are:

1) Most jobs are 9-5 meaning that you will have time for family

2) It takes less time to finish and be licensed compared to dentistry

3) Most starting salary are 75-150k depending on location and need

4) You can get $1,000,000 malpractice insurance for only hundreds of dollars per year. compare that to medicine and dentristry

5) You will have a life and a job for the rest of your life

You’ll need to look at some websites and see what each school is offering and which you want to go into. Get an appointment with maybe the registrar and ask about the diversity. Some people think they are going into the medical field and it takes so long and so much money that they drop out. Check out if the loans will be available to you and that you can live at home to save on the bill. When you start into college usually the first two years are for the most part repeats of your high school days (of course a little more in depth) so you still have some time to decide what you want to do. Taking things like psychology, computers, a language, science or biology would be good to take within your first two years. Ask if you can take your first two years at a community college and get an AA. This might lower the cost for you. Paying back those student loans is a bear.

if you are looking to get into med school……..pharmacy might not be such a good choice. I am personally acquainted with only three doctors who were pharmacy majors/pharmacists first. And I know a lot of docs!

Yeah Pharmacists get paid roughly around $45~$50 per hour. You work around 10 hours each day. So you make $450~$500 a day. In a month you make $13,500~$15,000 a month. Multiply it by 2 and you get $162,000~$180,000 a year [Excluding tax deductions]. Thats $162,000~$180,000 a year excluding food, clothing, office supplies, etc.

Try Chemistry, Biochem, Physics, Biology, or Microbiology. Don’t do Pre-Med, everyone and their mom does it!
