College after 13 years. Prep?
I’m 32 and in a good financial situaition, I just don’t know what to do to prepare myself. I have minimal computer skills. I speak several languages, but haven’t had any math or science since senior year of high school. I guess my main area of interest would be language studies.
Any advice?
Thanks!
Also, I’m in Atlanta if you know of something really good there.

You could also look into cultural geography. Since you know many languages already, you probably have some good knowledge of various cultures. You could put the two together, if that interests you.
Another option would be to study linguistics. Basically, you would be learning to write the way words sound and could compare several languages as well.
If you’re looking for specific preparation, you could consider ‘continuing education courses’. I don’t know if you have anything like these courses near your area. Essentially, these are courses offered at universities and colleges that can prepare you for a degree but are usually not worth credit. For instance, you could take a mathematics course that prepares you for university or college.
I hope that helps!
most schools have a website where they list curriculum, staff contacts, and often catalogs of the school’s majors (what classes are required for each major, and other information about the majors).
i am not from atlanta, but when i looked for schools in oregon, i was able to go online and do a ton of research before even applying. i’m sure you’ll find a community of returning students. both my undergrad and graduate schools had a high population of 30-somethings who were returning to school after the kids grew up a bit. befriend some and they will become your safety net, and resource when you have questions.
